Let me tell you my story. On November 20, 2008 I started a website called http://www.article-submission-express.com. This site is actually for a service I offer for article submissions. Basically what we do is solicit clients who want to increase their search engine rank by getting one way text links to their website. Today as I write this it is December 7, 2008. I am now ranked 101 on Google for the term Article Submissions.

The sole way of promoting this site was with Google Advertising, which I use a very low budget for and then submitting articles, such as this, that describe how the technique works. The idea of the article I am writing today is not to promote my site, but to describe how easy it is to use article submission to get ranked.

Let me begin by telling you as this writing there are 15,200,000 results when you search on Google for article submissions. Wouldn't you agree that being number 101 after just two weeks and three days out of those results is incredible? I also want to tell you my site was indexed in Google in 3 days. To me, these are incredible results.

I have dedicated myself to the study of search engine optimization over the past several months. I want to rank high for a competitive word, because if I can learn how to do it, I will have many different avenues of income available to me. I have studied people like Aaron Wall and Brad Fallon, I also use Brad Callen's software a lot. I started a few sites, and used different methods for each site to see which of these methods are most successful. Of all the sites I have started, this site with the article submissions and Google Ads has brought me not only the most efficient results, but the most results.

I have used tools like TrafficBoosterPro, which is supposed to generate great content and feed the search engines so that your rankings increase. Well it worked, but then it killed me. I ranked 60 for one of the most competitive key words on the internet on Google. A few days later, I was not in the rankings at all. That site has never recovered, even after a complete reconstruction and white hat methods only. I also have tried reciprocal links. These may or may not work, according to most experts, google doesn't count them, though some still say they do. I do have to say though, the ones that say they do, I don't see reciprocals in large quantities on their sites. I have two similar sites, that are optimized for key words, but are not duplicate sites. Guess what, one has over 400 reciprocal links and the other has none. The one that has none, outranks the one that has no key words. The one that has no links, even outranks a search for the domain name of the one that has the links.

The website that I designed http://www.article-submission-express.com has only been promoted through two very simple methods. Number one the day I had it designed I bought a few obscure Google ads to draw some traffic and make me some sales before I could get a good organic listing, or a listing I didn't have to pay for. I then, used the program that the website sells to submit a few articles about Search Engine Optimization with a link to my website in the resource box, like the one below. These articles are just like the one you are reading now, and in a few weeks I had incredible rankings.

In all the studies I did with SEO, this is the most success I have ever had, and boy am I excited. I have used press releases as of yet, because they are too large of an investment for me at this point. I also with this particular website did not use link building programs or link exchange services. I haven't traded any links, and I don't even provide code to link to my website. I also have not ventured into adding links on a social networking site which would probably increase my rankings further. The website is a controlled experiment. I have to eliminate all variables and use certain techniques to test them against others. I am going to continue to do what I am doing and monitor Google. The best part of the whole bit is I am not at 101 in the rankings so it makes it easy to see which direction I go. Many of us are instinctively competitive creatures, and are always thinking in terms of 'winning' or 'losing'.

It's perfectly normal to want to win a competition. The important thing is being able to tell the difference between a competitive event and one won through cooperation.

You see, when you are engaging in a competition, there is always a goal or a finish line. If you are playing a game of chess, for example, the object is to 'check-mate', if you are playing football the object is to get more points than the over team in a limited amount of time. Internet marketing, however, does not come with a finish line. There is no time limit and the game is never over.

The objective of internet marketing is self propelling in a sense. It wants to move itself forward. Internet marketing works best when discovering and implementing new ways to improve internet marketing. Cooperation is the best method for achieving this rather than competition.

Everyone gets involved and helps to push the boundaries of internet marketing, simply because everyone knows that there is a collective benefit when new technologies are developed and implemented.

These whiners will tell everybody who will listen that the failure of their internet business was not their fault at all and that their businesses failed because a 'guru' led them wrong, sold them products that they didn't need and flooded their inboxes with so many offers that they couldn't get their work done.

The thing is that when any successful internet marketer ('guru') offers products to his list, he isn't forcing anyone to take up his offer. He is merely offering the product, and highlighting the benefits. Each customer makes a choice about whether to purchase the product or not.

If an offer, or product, is worthy of his list's attention the successful internet marketer has is perfectly able to send this to his list with a clear conscience, even though he knows that this recommendation won't be suitable for everyone on his list. But for several, it will be the perfect tool.

Everyone is responsible for their own success and failure. Every internet entrepreneur should know their business well enough to analyze the pros and cons of of a product as it relates to his business. The advice of guru's is just that, advice. Ultimately you make the decision.
